Celia Bertoia, daughter of Midcentury Metalsmith Harry Bertoia, will speak at the start of the New Music Festival of Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Two occasions call for celebration: the return of the Bertoia sounding sculpture after extensive repairs, as well as a Bertoia monotypes exhibition currently displayed in the gallery. She will give a brief background of the monotypes and also speak about how the tonal sculpture first came about. She has just finished Bertoia’s biography, due out in early 2015, and thus has plenty of technical facts along with personal stories to tell.
Celia Bertoia will speak on Wednesday, October 15th at 6 pm, Willard Wankelman Gallery, Fine Arts Center, Bowling Green University, Bowling Green, Ohio.
Nathalie Miebach will also speak about her unusual works, which are displayed alongside of Bertoia.
